The United States announced on October 8 sending military reinforcements and ammunition to assist Israel in its fight against Hamas. This significant support includes the deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and its naval aviation group.

Launched in 2013, the USS Gerald R. Ford was initially intended to be delivered in 2015 to promptly replace the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in history, which was retired from service in December 2012 after 51 years of duty. The Gerald R. Ford was eventually delivered in 2017, and its first mission took place in 2022.

Measuring over 330 meters in length and capable of accommodating 508 officers and 3,789 crew members, the USS Gerald R. Ford is one of the 11 giant aircraft carriers in the US Navy, representing one of the key military assets of the United States. Powered by 2 A1B nuclear reactors, it can reach a speed of over 55 km/h.
