Iranian statements have cast further doubt on the fate of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, who is believed to have been targeted in extensive airstrikes on the group’s military headquarters in Beirut on Friday evening. In the aftermath of Israel’s intense bombardment in southern Beirut, conflicting reports emerged about Nasrallah’s status, with some suggesting he was present in the command center at the time of the strikes.

Israeli and Western media have indicated that Nasrallah was the primary target of these Israeli raids. However, no official confirmation or denial regarding the operation’s success has been made public. Ali Larijani, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, emphasized, “The resistance has strong leaders and cadres, and every leader who dies will have a replacement,” asserting that “assassinations will not resolve Israel’s issues.”

Former commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Ahmad Vahidi, added, “Hezbollah has trained many leaders, and when one leader falls, another takes their place.” The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the Israeli strike in Beirut as a “war crime,” insisting that both Israel and the United States should be held accountable.

Simultaneously, The New York Times reported that the Iranian Supreme Leader has convened an emergency meeting of the Supreme National Security Council to address the escalating situation.
