On behalf of the King of Spain, Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon Jesús Santos honored on Wednesday evening Anne Mourani Frangieh, President of the Faire Face association, with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic in appreciation of “her commitment to raising awareness against cancer and her boundless dedication and love in the service of others.”
This decoration, dedicated to all the volunteer women of Faire Face, was presented during a ceremony held at the Chehab Palace, the Ambassador’s residence in Baabda, in the presence of a number of prominent figures, close friends and members of her family, including her daughter Hala and son Samer.
Mourani Frangieh, wife of the late MP Samir Frangieh who was known in his lifetime as a promoter of dialogue and unity, expressed her admiration for the volunteer work of the women at Faire Face during an interview with This Is Beirut.
She highlighted their dedication to combating cancer for almost three decades, when the illness “was a completely taboo subject, and no one dared to talk about or even utter the word cancer.”
Mourani Frangieh joined Faire Face when her husband was diagnosed with cancer.
She recalled that Faire Face was “the first non-medical association to address the problem of cancer from a listening and psychological perspective and not just a medical one, providing support to patients in various hospitals.”
With the economic crisis and financial collapse in Lebanon that has persisted since 2019, the association has been engaged in assisting patients who cannot afford chemotherapy, radiotherapy or medication.
