The Civil Servants’ Assembly announced on Saturday the temporary suspension extension of their strike until March 15.
In a statement, they emphasized their commitment to their demands, notably “the establishment of a fair salary scale, which includes adjustments to social, medical and family allowances, as well as end-of-service benefits.”
The Civil Servants’ Assembly clarified that discussions are ongoing with the relevant authorities to reach a decision aimed at “reactivating the role of the public administration” and “preserving the dignity and rights of civil servants.”
As a reminder, civil servants from several ministries – Information, Agriculture, Telecommunications, Tourism, Labor and Economy – went on strike on February 21 and 22 to protest what they described as “discriminatory behavior” towards them. They criticized the financial benefits granted by the government to certain employees of the Ministry of Finance, which were not allocated to other sectors.
Following the adjustment of their salaries and retirement pensions during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 28, they announced a temporary suspension of their strike until March 8.
