The Israeli bombardment in South Lebanon, from Tuesday night until Wednesday morning, was the most intense since October 8, with fourteen simultaneous air and artillery strikes. They continued until morning, but at a reduced frequency.

Some thirty missiles from fighter planes were launched on Wadi al-Slouki, in the outskirts of Hula, Wadi al-Hujair and the road leading to the village of Taybeh and the Rab Tletine sector. Israeli media referred to these bombardments as part of the “biggest attack” on the South of the country.

The Israeli air force deployed a violent belt of fire, the largest since October 8 (the start of the war in the South) according to sources in the region, adding that the sound of the raids “resonated throughout the border region.”

The Israeli army announced that its fighter jets and artillery had launched a “joint raid in the Wadi al-Slouki area, targeting dozens of military buildings and combat infrastructures belonging to Hezbollah.” According to the Israeli army, Hezbollah “uses Wadi al-Slouki for terrorist purposes, having set up dozens of military infrastructures in the rugged area to direct them against Israel.”

Israeli Maneuvers

It is interesting to note that the intensification of raids followed Israeli military maneuvers simulating an attack on Lebanon.

In this context, the Israeli army stated in a press release that “the military exercise took place at the level of the battalions affiliated to the 228th brigade (Northern Hanahel Brigade), with the participation of the brigade commander, Yaniv Malka, and the commander of the 5030th battalion (reserve),” but gave no indication of where or how long the training lasted.

During the maneuver, the head of the Israeli army’s northern command announced a possible intensification of attacks against Lebanon, “We are more ready and prepared than ever. (We will launch an attack) tonight if necessary, and we will also continue the process of strengthening military preparation, depending on an assessment of the situation in the future.”

On the Southern Front

The intensity of the bombardments decreased in the morning. An Israeli drone fired a missile at a house in Aita al-Shaab on Wednesday morning, causing a fire but no casualties.

Two raids targeted the area around Dhayra and Yarine.

For its part, Hezbollah announced in a press release the death of one of its fighters, Rachid Mohammad Shaglil, nicknamed “Zulfiqar,” from the Bekaa town of Tamnin al-Fawqa.
