Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized on Tuesday his commitment to diplomatic solutions.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Mikati stressed that he heard from the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, that there is an “opportunity to find a solution for stability in southern Lebanon, and they are working towards it;” meaning that the Prime Minister is once again reiterating that his government has no control over the situation as Hassan Nasrallah, Iran’s proxy, is the real decision-maker.

Mikati affirmed his commitment to international decisions regarding Lebanon, respecting them entirely. He emphasized that the ceasefire in Gaza is the cornerstone for the beginning of all dialogues. He recalled having mentioned Hezbollah’s “rationality,” prioritizing Lebanese interests and avoiding any actions leading to further instability in Lebanon.

He highlighted that all communications he engages in are appreciated by all countries, acknowledging that Lebanon is trying to avoid escalation due to Israeli provocations.
