Southern towns along the Israeli border were once again host to escalating clashes on Wednesday, resulting in two deaths and two injuries.

Tensions began early in the day when the Israeli army launched two missiles from a drone at a farm in Sitr, which fell in front of a Lebanese army and UNIFIL patrol.

The UNIFIL spokesperson, Andrea Tenenti, stated, “No UNIFIL patrols were targeted or injured during these clashes. The peacekeepers continue their tasks and activities, including patrols.”

Following this initial strike, Hezbollah targeted the Israeli Jal al-Alam site, facing Naqoura, for the second day.

Israel retaliated by shelling the towns of Ramyah, Aytaroun, Yaroun and Blida. Shellings in the town of Maroun al-Ras resulted in the destruction of a citizen’s home, resulting in one dead and one injured, according to the Lebanese Red Cross.

Moreover, following the launch of missiles on a Hezbollah site near Kfarshuba, two Hezbollah members were hit, with one dead.

The South was also the site of intense warplane overflights. Reports state that Israeli reconnaissance drones reached as far as Tyre. Moreover, the areas of Al-Mashrifah and Al-Lubuna were hit with white phosphorus bombs. Shellings and strikes also left significant damage to residential areas.

The Israeli strikes were also retaliating to multiple strikes from Hezbollah’s side.

Hezbollah first announced that it targeted an Israeli tank with guided missiles at the Avivim outpost today, “resulting in casualties among the crew,” despite the Israeli army stating that the strike left no injuries.

The Israeli army also reported the landing of four shells fired from Lebanese territory in open areas in Upper Galilee, as well as a missile launched at the Israeli military target “Haddab al-Bustan.”
