Lebanon is finalizing its participation in the International Horticultural Exhibition 2023, also known as Expo Qatar 2023, which will take place from 1 October 2023 to 28 March 2024 in Doha.

An extended working meeting was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, attended by representatives from both the public and private sectors to put the finishing touches on preparations for Lebanon’s participation in this exhibition. A visual presentation of the exhibition was projected, allowing those present to practically see what the Lebanese Pavilion looks like, the sections it includes, and the exhibition spaces for local products. The activities and forums that will be organized to market Lebanese production were also on the agenda.

A mechanism that involves the participation of producers was also agreed upon. It includes newcomers who offer innovative products with excellent specifications. The aim of this initiative is to open up new markets to them.

Mohammad Abou Haidar, the Director General of the Ministry of Economy, explained that work was underway to organize an economic conference alongside the exhibition. He emphasized the importance of this exhibition for startups and individual creative initiatives.

Mohammad Choucair, the President of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the importance of the event, which is a significant opportunity to showcase Lebanon and open it up to new markets, with the participation of 80 exhibiting countries. He stressed the need for Lebanese farmers and industrialists to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to promote their products and innovative ideas.

Originally scheduled from 14 October 2021 to 17 March 2022, the exhibition was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exhibition’s theme is “Green Desert, Better Environment.”

The goal is to encourage, inspire and educate on cutting-edge methods to reduce desertification. The exhibition will provide a global forum for professionals, non-governmental organizations, decision-makers and participants to discuss the global issue of desertification.
