In a statement issued on Thursday, the Lebanese Forces bureau in Zahle, in the Bekaa region, condemned the “deliberate attack” that occurred at its premises the night before. “A car carrying three armed individuals incited tension in the neighborhood of Hosh al-Oumara in Zahle at around 11:45 PM,” the Lebanese Forces stated. “They were playing partisan chants that did not align with the sentiments of the region’s residents. This led to a confrontation, resulting in gunshots being fired at the center, fortunately without causing any injuries,” they added.

“They deliberately passed by the Lebanese Forces center in an attempt to provoke the youth and residents of the area, who asked the armed individuals to lower their volume,” the statement read.

The Lebanese Forces expressed their commitment to freedom of expression while emphasizing the importance of respecting the boundaries of others’ freedom. This incident highlights the “need to restrain rampant militia arms, which have become a real danger that may provoke undesirable reactions we do not want.”

The Lebanese Forces also commended the role of the security forces, who are diligently investigating the case and pursuing the armed individuals who fled the scene.
