MP George Atallah, member of the Free Patriotic Movement Parliamentary bloc, confirmed on Sunday that the FPM has reached a consensus to vote for former Finance Minister Jihad Azour during the parliamentary session on Wednesday.

During an interview with “The Voice of all Lebanon” radio, Atallah emphasized that Azour is a serious candidate and not confrontational in any way. He also announced that Azour fully embraced the presidential priorities document during his meetings with the FPM, which further strengthens his nomination.

Recent meetings within the FPM had sparked discussions and speculation regarding Azour’s nomination, considering that he does not meet all the specifications set by the movement.

Regarding the FPM’s stance on dialogue, Atallah confirmed that the party was supportive of the dialogue initiated by Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri. However, the campaign launched by the Amal Movement in favor of Sleiman Frangieh at that time eliminated any possibility of responding to that call.
