The Maronite bishops called for an immediate convening of Parliament to elect a president of the Republic, stressing the urgency of addressing Lebanon’s critical political deadlock.

During a meeting on Wednesday, the bishops emphasized that Lebanon is at a crossroads and cannot afford further delays in leadership.

“Swift action is needed to convene Parliament and elect a president of the Republic, as Lebanon faces critical challenges,” they stated.

In addition, the bishops called on the international community to push for an immediate ceasefire and the implementation of UN Resolution 1701.

They also appealed for global support to help mitigate the severe impact of displacement in Lebanon, stating, “We urge countries and international institutions to support Lebanon’s official efforts to alleviate the effects of displacement.”
