Lebanese international runner Aziza Sbeiti has been chosen by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as one of the 100 “most influential and inspirational women in the world” in 2023. Sbeiti was chosen because she is the fastest female runner in Lebanese history, holding the Lebanese record in both the 60-meter and 100-meter races. She also won the gold medal at this year’s West Asian and Arab Championships.

The list includes numerous personalities from the social, business, art and sports worlds, such as Spanish soccer Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati and British athlete Bianca Williams.

Born on November 17, 1991, Sbeiti, who has just celebrated her 32nd birthday, began her international career in 2010 by taking part in the World Junior Championships in Canada. Since then, she has taken part in local, Arab, regional, continental and international competitions, winning numerous colorful medals and proudly representing Lebanon abroad. She trains regularly under the supervision of national coach Dr. George Assaf, and is a member of the prestigious Lebanese club “Lets Run.”
