Maronite Patriarch Béchara Raï met on Monday with the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin during a swift visit to the Holy See before heading to Paris for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Some of the key point focused upon in the meeting are the deadlocked presidential election, the increasingly controversial presence of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and efforts to secure their return home.
Raï will be meeting Macron on Tuesday.
