Israel’s Ben-Gurion airport reopened at 7 am (Beirut time) on Sunday morning, following its closure at 5:19 am, Israel’s Airport Authority (IAA) has announced.

This comes as Israel and Hezbollah traded strikes in the early hours of Sunday.

IAA estimated that 50,000 passengers were expected to pass through the airport on Sunday, with over 300 international flights scheduled.

Following the closure a special meeting, led by Transport Minister Miri Regev, was convened to discuss the impact.

However, several airlines, including Air France, Etihad Airways and Aegean Airways, have cancelled flights to and from Tel Aviv.

Israel’s low-cost airline, Israir, has announced flight disruptions “due to foreign crew members’ anxieties about flying to Israel.”

According to Israeli media outlet Yedioth Ahronoth, the website of Ben-Gurion International Airport crashed Sunday morning, apparently due to overload from people checking on their flights.

Royal Jordanian Airlines has suspended flights to Beirut’s Rafic Hariri airport.
