Since the fourth century AD, a network of ancient aqueducts has provided water to the valleys of Peru’s Nazca region, making fertile land out of the desert. The pre-Hispanic Nazca people built the aqueducts over 1,700 years ago and are on UNESCO’s tentative list to be declared a World Heritage Site.
