Iran is known to have one of the highest execution rates globally, second only to China, as reported by human rights organizations like Amnesty International. However, public executions are relatively uncommon, with the majority of hangings conducted within prisons.

According to the Iran Human Rights (IHR) organization, 278 people have been executed in Iran this year alone.
