The Philippine Under-18 women’s basketball team defeated their Lebanese counterparts 89-63 on Tuesday, on the second day of the Under-18 Asian Championship (level B) taking place in Shenzhen, China, until June 30. The quarter-time scores were 25-14, 44-25, 59-39 and 89-63.

This is Lebanon’s first defeat in the continental tournament, after the Cedar team beat Syria 20-0 on Monday. Lebanon will face the Maldives on Wednesday at 2 PM Beirut time in their final match of the first round.

The countries taking part in the continental championship have been divided into two groups:

Group 1: Samoa, Iran, Hong Kong and Kyrgyzstan.

Group 2: Philippines, Lebanon and Maldives (Syria withdrew from the tournament).

The team that wins the tournament qualifies for level A of this age category in Asia.
