Ray Bassil, the international shooter, has qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games set to take place in Paris. She secured her qualification after winning the gold medal at the Asian Shooting Championship in the Olympic Shooting Range (trap category) in South Korea. Bassil emerged as the top contestant in the continental competition, ensuring her participation in the upcoming Olympic Games. This marks her fourth consecutive participation in the Games, following her appearances in London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016), and Tokyo (2020).

Born in 1988, Bassil aims to clinch a medal for Lebanon. The last Olympic medal won by Lebanon dates back to 1980 during the Moscow Olympic Games, credited to the late wrestler Hassan Bechara. Bassil’s forthcoming participation is aimed at ending this long-awaited period for a Lebanese medal.

Following her qualification, Dr. Pierre Gholam, the President of the Olympic Committee and President of the Lebanese Shooting Federation, reached out to Bassil to congratulate her on her victory at the Asian Championship and her qualification for the Paris 2024 Games.

Throughout Bassil’s career, she has earned numerous local, Arab, continental and international titles, marking two decades of involvement in the world of shooting. Her journey began at the age of 15 under the guidance of her father, Jacques, who introduced her to the sport.
