Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati stressed that “the security and stability of Lebanon is an Egyptian and Arab interest, which we are committed to maintaining.”
After meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday, he conveyed “a message of support and solidarity from the Egyptian people to the Lebanese people and government.”
In addition, Abdel Ati condemned “provocative policies, including the violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty,” noting that “this is unacceptable.”
He also reiterated the importance of “stopping escalation and not dragging the region into a comprehensive regional war.”
For his part, Berri considered that “the success of the efforts being made in Doha for a ceasefire is key to restoring stability and finding solutions in the region.”
Later, the Egyptian minister met with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib at the Grand Serail.
Mikati reiterated, “Lebanon’s commitment to the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701,” affirming that “it is necessary to pressure Israel to implement the resolution and stop its aggression against Lebanon.”
For his part, Abdel Ati stated that his visit sends a strong message of support for Lebanon, revealing that “efforts are ongoing to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and to defuse tensions.”
Abdel Ati’s visit comes as part of ongoing visits by Arab and foreign officials to Lebanon.
