King Abdullah II of Jordan received former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Joumblatt at Al-Husseiniya Palace on Sunday for a meeting during which they discussed regional developments.
According to the Jordanian royal, both men stressed the importance of an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza. King Abdullah also emphasized the “importance of continuing to deliver humanitarian aid to all areas to prevent the exacerbation of the humanitarian disaster.”
He also highlighted the danger of expanding the circle of conflict, which could have devastating consequences for the entire region. As such, he stressed the importance of Lebanon’s stability and sustained security.
In attendance at the meeting was also Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi.
