Tensions rose again on Wednesday between Hezbollah and Israel, which carried out three raids early evening Wednesday on the village of Iaat in the area of Baalbeck. This attack came a few hours after Hezbollah struck an Israeli military building in Arab el-Aramche, in Galilee, in which fourteen soldiers were wounded, according to the Israeli army.
The Israeli army said the soldiers were wounded Wednesday after a drone and missile attack claimed by Iran-backed Hezbollah struck a village in northern Israel.
“As a result of the attack, six soldiers were severely injured, two moderately injured and six others were lightly injured,” the army said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, Israeli media said 18 people were wounded in the shelling from southern Lebanon that hit a building in Arab el-Aramche.
The Israeli army immediately reacted by shelling “the spot from which the rockets were launched against Galilee.”
In the afternoon, Hezbollah said it targeted an Israeli military building in Arab el-Aramche, in retaliation for the two deadly Israeli raids on Tuesday in Ain Baal and Chehabiyeh, in which three of its fighters, including two commanders, were killed in addition to a member of allied Amal Movement.
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for shelling the air control unit at the Mayroun barracks. In a statement, it specified that it was a “retaliatory bombardment for the Israeli raids on Tuesday.”
The pro-Iranian group had heavily shelled the northern Galilee repeatedly during the night, targeting in particular a Merkava tank “which was about to enter Metula.” It claimed that it “killed or wounded all those on board,” again in retaliation for the raids on Ain Baal and Chehabiyeh.
On Wednesday morning, Hezbollah said it carried out three attacks against the 91st Division headquarters in the Baranit barracks, “where Israeli soldiers were stationed, using missiles, rockets and artillery shells.”
Other soldiers near the Ramya site were also targeted by rockets and artillery shells, according to Hezbollah.
The Israeli army responded by shelling the outskirts of Khiam and the plain extending to Marjayoun. The villages of Aita al-Shaab and Wadi al-Asafir were also attacked by Israeli military aircraft, in addition to violent nighttime artillery bombardments that continued until dawn.
