Pascal Sleiman, who was kidnapped in broad daylight on a road between Kherbeh and Hakel in the caza of Jbeil, was found dead the next day in Syria. The Lebanese authorities are continuing the investigation to unravel the circumstances of the murder.

Originally from the town of Mayfouq, caza of Jbeil, Pascal Sleiman had little to no notoriety in the public sphere before he was promoted to Lebanese Forces coordinator for the Jbeil area in July 2023.

Sleiman, who was married to Micheline Wehbe and had three children, resided between Hazmieh and Amchit.

Those who knew him spoke of a committed man who was appreciated by all, including his political adversaries, and had no enemies.

Free Patriotic Movement MP Simon Abi Ramia is one of the political figures who had close ties to Sleiman. Interviewed by This is Beirut, he mentioned his “constant availability” and “unwavering commitment to political and social work in the caza of Jbeil.”

According to Abi Ramia, Pascal Sleiman was “open-minded and had relations even with his political rivals.” He added, “A man of dialogue and wisdom, he reasoned with a great deal of common sense while respecting other people’s opinions.”

In an interview with This is Beirut, former Jbeil MP Fares Souaid described Sleiman “as the typical young Lebanese entrepreneur who managed to preserve his family.” He insisted, “Pascal Sleiman was an honest, respected man with an excellent reputation, who had no enemies in the area or elsewhere.”

Souaid highlighted that “when he was appointed as coordinator of the Lebanese Forces in Jbeil, I called to congratulate him because he deserved to fill this political and administrative position,” insisting that “his commitment to the party stemmed from deep conviction.”

Sleiman’s friends, who wished to remain anonymous, told This is Beirut unanimously that he was a “peaceful and honest man whom everyone loved.” “He did not have problems with anybody,” they added.
