United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka resorted to her X account on Thursday to condemn the escalating hostilities in South Lebanon, which reached territory far from the Blue Line. She expressed “deep concern” about the increasing violence, particularly its devastating impact on civilian lives and property.

Wronecka’s statement follows an Israeli strike that resulted in the deaths of 12 people in Nabatieh and other areas of South Lebanon.

“I urge all parties involved to halt this cycle of violence and swiftly implement security measures along the Blue Line,” she said, stressing the importance of adhering to Security Council Resolution 1701.

“Tens of thousands of displaced individuals have the right to return safely to their homes and rebuild their lives. Achieving this necessitates a political resolution to the conflict, and time is pressing,” Wronecka concluded.

Her statement comes after her visit to Yarzeh today, where she discussed the escalating security concerns along the southern border with Commander-in-Chief of the Army, General Joseph Aoun.
