After a wait of almost 3 hours, the meeting of the Council of Ministers finally commenced at the Grand Serail after a quorum was secured.

Sixteen of the twenty-four ministers were able to make it to the government session, which was due to take place at half past nine this morning, to discuss an agenda consisting of 25 items, the most important of which concerns the correction of transport allowances in the public sector, with the possibility of discussing outside the agenda the regularization of public sector workers. Among the highlights of the session was the adoption of the 2024 general budget law.

However, the demonstration by retired military personnel in Riad el-Solh Square to demand their rights led to the closure of the entrances to the Grand Serail, preventing some ministers from gaining access and thus delaying the Cabinet meeting.
