Israel escalated its attacks in southern Lebanon on Monday, with Israeli artillery positions shelling several towns late into the night.

Two fighters, one from Hezbollah and one from Hamas, were killed.

Israeli artillery targeted the outskirts of the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun at around 7:30 in the morning. The towns of Labbouneh and Hamoul, as well as the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab in the western sector, were also targeted by 175mm caliber shells.

In addition, the outskirts of the towns of Marjayoun, Mays al-Jabal, Jebbin, Tayr Harfa, and Dhayra were subjected to intermittent artillery shelling throughout the night.

Hezbollah also announced at midnight on Sunday that it had attacked an “Israeli force in the vicinity of the Zarit barracks with missile weapons.”

This intense escalation follows a violent Sunday, where airstrikes throughout the afternoon resulted in the deaths of a woman from Bint Jbeil and a member of Hezbollah in a targeted airstrike on a car in the town of Kafra.
