The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Saturday that they apprehended H.A., a Sudanese individual born in 1993, on December 22 in Furn el-Chebbak. He is suspected to be the perpetrator of the heinous crime against L.N., a young Ethiopian woman born in 1989, whose lifeless body was discovered on December 16 in a dumpster in Souk al-Ahad.
In a statement, the ISF explained that “garbage collectors had discovered the body.” “She was found with her feet tied and had been struck on the face,” the document reads. “A mobile phone cable was around her neck. The young woman’s body was placed in a large bag and thrown into a dumpster.”
The investigation conducted by specialized ISF units led to suspicions about a Sudanese man who works as a building caretaker in the Furn el-Chebbak area. According to the ISF statement, he was believed to have had a romantic relationship with the victim.
During the subsequent interrogation, H.A. confessed to committing the heinous crime following a dispute with the victim. “The altercation escalated, and he struck her on the head with a glass dish,” the statement reads. “As she fell, she hit her head against a glass table. He subsequently strangled her with a mobile phone cable, tied her feet, and disposed of the body.”
According to the statement, “H.A. transported the victim to a dumpster at a landfill in the Souk al-Ahad area, where he brutally abandoned her.”
The investigation revealed that H.A. had entered Lebanon clandestinely through Syria, using false identification to move and work. During the inspection, the ISF found in his wallet photos of two asylum applications provided by a UN agency. The names on the asylum applications are different.
An investigation has been opened, and H.A. has been referred to the competent judicial authorities.
