Clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah escalated on Saturday throughout the day despite a tenuous calm that prevailed in the morning. The day was primarily marked by a series of Israeli aerial raids targeting various positions of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Two of these raids specifically targeted the outskirts of Aita al-Chaab, causing a thick black cloud to rise.

The Israeli army announced that it launched aerial raids against Hezbollah targets following attacks by the Lebanese movement, marking an escalation of tension on the northern border of Israel, as reported by AFP.

“In response to the fire from Lebanon, Israeli army fighter jets struck Hezbollah’s terrorist targets,” the army stated in a press release, also mentioning tank and artillery strikes into Lebanese territory.

The targets hit “include terrorist infrastructure, rocket storage sites and military complexes,” as stated in the text.

On the other hand, Hezbollah reported that it attacked five Israeli positions along the border and, in another attack, hit an Israeli military position near Kyriat Shmona on the border.

Earlier in the morning, the Israeli army had reported striking “two terrorist cells” and an “observation post” of Hezbollah in response to attempted firings from Lebanon towards Israeli territory.

“In response to two terrorist cells attempting to fire from Lebanon towards Israeli territory, the Israeli army struck the cells and a Hezbollah observation post,” the army reported in a statement.

Later in the day, Hezbollah announced in a statement that they had targeted the al-Abad site with missiles and appropriate weaponry, destroying a portion of its equipment.

Furthermore, the Israeli army launched a spy balloon above the Misgav site in Amman, which was targeted by Hezbollah, resulting in a significant explosion. It is worth noting that this is the first time Israel has used this object since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza.

Additionally, the Israeli military radio reported that “shells were fired towards Ras Naqoura on the Lebanese border, where artillery responded to the sources of the fire.”

In the evening, Houna Loubnan reported that Israeli artillery bombardments even targeted the town of Yahmr al-Shaqif in the Nabatieh district and four 155mm shells fell on al-Arayedh, with several families who were harvesting olives surviving.”
