Hezbollah and Israeli troops traded artillery and rocket fire Thursday afternoon as sirens sounded in Western Galilee on the border with Lebanon.
Explosions were heard in the proximity of Israeli military positions. The Israeli army said it detected six rockets launched in the Galilee, five of which landed in open places, while the sixth was intercepted.
The clashes resumed shortly after the funeral of three Hezbollah members who were killed by Israeli bombing Wednesday, when the Iranian-backed group began directing its missiles at Israeli military positions adjacent to the border.
Hezbollah said it targeted the Jal al-Alam site near Labouneh with guided missiles. Israeli media also reported that an anti-tank missile was launched from Lebanese territory towards the Zarit settlement in the Upper Galilee. The Israeli media reported that three people were injured in Kiryat Shmona.
In retaliation, Israeli artillery bombed the vicinity of the town of Alma al-Shaab in the western sector of South Lebanon, in the vicinity of the town of Naqoura and on the outskirts of Labouneh.

Later in the day, Hamas claimed responsibility for the bombardment of Israel’s northern towns, saying in a statement that it had fired a salvo of thirty rockets at Nahariya and Shlome.

Several explosions were heard at more than one Israeli military site on the border with Lebanon, MTV reported. The Israeli army’s Jal al-Alam and Hanita sites, opposite Alma el-Chaab, were targeted with guided missiles (by Hezbollah), according to the pro-Iranian group.

In the early evening, another rocket was fired at Israel. Its army retaliated by bombing the Hula perimeter.
