Red notices have been issued by Interpol to arrest Syrians residing in Lebanon who associate themselves with Lebanese networks working in human trafficking and prostitution.

Brigadier General Kifah Naddaf, head of Syria’s anti-trafficking department, who revealed the information on Tuesday evening, clarified to the “Sputnik” agency that “these Syrian residents collaborate with Lebanese networks involved in prostitution and human trafficking.”

“They lure Syrian women to Lebanon under the pretext of securing work for them in exchange for high wages, after which all their personal documents are confiscated. Pressure is also exerted on them through various methods to force them into prostitution networks,” Naddaf said.

He added: “A new criminal method has been discovered, used by gangs of human traffickers for the purpose of sexual exploitation. It consists of subjugating the victim by marrying her and sending her to human trafficking networks across borders, to be sexually exploited in exchange for a sum of money paid to the husband on a monthly basis.”
