On Wednesday, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rai received the Druze Sheikh Akl, Sami Aboulmona, at the head of a delegation from the Druze religious council. The meeting took place at the Maronite Patriarchal summer headquarters in Dimane and focused on preparations for the visit of Patriarch Al-Rai to the Mountain. The visit is scheduled for September 8 to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the reconciliation between the Maronites and the Druze.
Other topics were discussed, including ways to deal with issues of a spiritual and national nature, as well as the contribution of the Maronite and Druze Waqfs to forming an economic force aimed at keeping the people from the mountains in their villages and reassuring the youth about their future.
