Israeli forces intensified operations across southern Lebanon on Monday, carrying out a series of strikes targeting Hezbollah military infrastructure, including attacks against anti-tank missile warehouses, weapons depots, and operational compounds near the border area.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry announced that more than 3,000 people have been killed in Lebanon since conflict erupted on March 2.

U.S.-led mediation efforts are unfolding alongside broader diplomatic initiatives linked to tensions between the United States and Iran. Tehran has stated that ending Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon remains one of its demands in negotiations over the wider regional confrontation.

However, Hezbollah has openly objected to Beirut’s participation in U.S.-mediated talks, signaling divisions within Lebanon over the diplomatic process.

Israeli Strike Kills Islamic Jihad Commander

Overnight, an Israeli airstrike near the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek killed a commander from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The Israeli Army identified the commander as Wael Mahmoud Abd al-Halim, stating that the strike was conducted after measures were taken “to mitigate the risk of harm to civilians.” The army also released an official statement detailing ongoing operations by forces of the 769th Brigade under the command of the 91st Division in southern Lebanon.

According to the statement, Israeli forces—supported by its Air Force—destroyed an anti-tank guided missile warehouse allegedly used by Hezbollah against Israeli troops operating in the area.

The press release also added that troops operating near the village of Khiam destroyed additional Hezbollah infrastructure, including weapons depots and operational compounds. Israeli forces reportedly seized anti-tank missile launchers, explosive charges, and light weapons during the raids.

Drone Attack Toward Northern Israel

In response, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching an explosive drone targeting an Iron Dome air defense position in the Galilee region of northern Israel.

The group also asserted that it carried out additional attacks against Israeli forces operating inside southern Lebanon. The Israeli Army confirmed that several projectiles and an explosive drone crossed into Israeli territory, targeting Israeli soldiers near the border area.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on more than half a dozen locations across southern Lebanon throughout the day, indicating that fighting continues despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to preserve the ceasefire.

The latest escalation highlights the growing risk that the conflict could further expand regionally, particularly as negotiations involving Iran, Israel, and the United States remain deadlocked.
