Jean Abboud, president of the Union of Travel and Tourism Agencies in Lebanon, assured on Friday that “Cyprus is not going to close its doors to the Lebanese.”

He confirmed that “contacts have been made with the Cyprus Embassy in Lebanon,” stressing that “things are going well and there is no fear of the island’s doors being closed to the Lebanese, especially as Lebanese tourists are an important part of the Cypriot economy during the summer season.”

However, he pointed out that the Cyprus Embassy has increased the visa fee by $10, and that anyone wishing to visit the island needs an appointment for their visa application, due to the increase in the number of Lebanese travelers to Cyprus in the coming months.

Abboud stated that, so far, no travel cancelations to Cyprus have been recorded. “On the contrary,” he said, “the numbers are increasing, especially after the Cypriot president asserted that his country is far from the war and is part of the solution.”
