The Association of Automobile Importers in Lebanon (AAI) has joined economic organizations in calling on MPs from all blocs to assume their national responsibilities and vote for the amended budget.

In a press release, the AAI warned that failure to vote on the budget with the amendments made by the parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee in cooperation with economic organizations and representatives of the Lebanese private sector would expose Lebanese companies and their employees to “a fatal risk, that of adopting the budget in its fundamental form” by government decree.

The AAI deems the unamended budget as “catastrophic in every aspect, imposing additional burdens, taxes and costs on the private sector that it is incapable of bearing.”

The text points out that despite 4 years of crisis, new car import companies still have a human capital of over ten thousand Lebanese, working hard to maintain operations and provide billions to the public treasury annually.
