Air traffic at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport (BIA) recorded a 12.24% increase in the number of passengers traveling to and from Lebanon over the past year (2023), accounting for a total of 7,127,649 passengers, compared with 6,349,967 passengers in 2022.

The number of arrivals in Lebanon rose by 11.51%, while departures increased by 13%. The number of transit passengers fell by 35.5%, from 9,085 in 2022 to 5,857.

July was the month with the highest number of passengers, reaching 924,000 travelers, corresponding to a year-by-year increase of 12.14%. July also recorded the highest percentage of arrivals in Lebanon with 504,026 passengers, representing an increase of 8.79% compared to July 2022. August 2023 recorded the highest number of departures, with 533,947 passengers compared with 475,107 in August 2022, an increase of 12.38%. The total number of passengers in August 2023 reached 915,085, compared with 796,543 in August 2022, an increase of 14.88%.

The total number of flights by national, Arab and foreign airlines using the Beirut airport in 2023 rose by 9.12%, totaling 57,159 flights, including 28,574 flights to Lebanon (+9.21% from 2022) and 28,585 flights departing from Lebanon (+9% from 2022).
