Six people were killed, including the commander of Hezbollah’s missile unit, and fifteen others wounded, two of them seriously, in the Israeli raid carried out shortly before 3pm on Tuesday on Ghobeiri, in the southern suburb of Beirut.

The Israeli army confirmed the killing of Ibrahim Kobayssi in the strike that targeted an apartment building whose top two floors had collapsed.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the killing of six people in the latest Israeli attack on Hezbollah’s hotbed, the third in five days.

The Israeli army had previously indicated that the target was a “senior Hezbollah official in charge of the group’s ‘missile unit’”, and said, according to pan-Arab media, that it was uncertain whether the strike had achieved its objectives.

Earlier, al-Hadath TV quoted “Israeli reports”, as saying that the target was Talal Hamiyeh, one of the commanders of Hezbollah elite force, al-Radwan , who was appointed following the assassination of Ibrahim Aqil, killed on Friday in an Israeli raid on Beirut’s southern suburbs. However, the  Israeli army radio denied the reports.

Hezbollah neither confirmed nor denied Kobayssi’s killing

The raid was immediately confirmed by the Israeli army, which described it as a “targeted strike” .
