Taekwondo champion Laetitia Aoun returned to Beirut on Friday after finishing fifth at the Paris Olympic Games in the under 57 kg category.

She was received in the VIP lounge of Beirut International Airport by the head of the Lebanese Olympic mission, François Saadeh.

Habib Zarifeh, the President of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, Jihad Salameh, the President of the Fencing Federation and the Mont La Salle Sports Club, parents and a number of residents of Damour, Aoun’s hometown, were all on hand to give the Lebanese champion a fitting welcome.

Zarifeh delivered a speech in which he praised Aoun’s performance at the Paris Olympics and thanked the Lebanese people, both at home and abroad, for the support they gave her at every moment.

For her part, Laetitia Aoun felt that she was within touching distance of bringing home an Olympic medal and thanked all those who supported her during her preparations, including those present and the supporters.

At the end, Salameh expressed Mont La Salle Club’s pride in Laetitia Aoun’s performance and wished her every success for the rest of her career.
