The Lebanese army denied that it was preparing to carry out a military operation in the Palestinian camp of Ain el-Helweh, near Saida, in which inter-Palestinian fighting has been raging for more than a week.
In a statement on Saturday, the army command said: “Some sites and social media have published information, citing a military source, announcing that the army is preparing a military operation in the Ain el-Helweh camp.”
“The army command denies this information and emphasizes that it is closely monitoring the security situation in the camp. It also insists on the need to refer exclusively to its official press releases for information,” the statement read.
