Spain defeated Lebanon 104-59 in the match that took place on Tuesday in Valencia, at the Pabellón Fuente de San Luis stadium.

This match was part of the qualification tournament for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. No one expected a Lebanese victory, but the Lebanese showed courage against the Spaniards (ranked 2nd in the world according to FIBA rankings), especially in the first half.

Lebanon’s new coach, Miodrag Perisic, selected the starting five for this match: Jad Khalil, Sergio el-Darwish, Youssef Khayat, Ali Haidar and Omari Spellman.

Spain dominated the match from start to finish, with each quarter ending in their favor (24-18) (27-13) (27-13) (26-15).

Youssef Khayyat, returning to the Lebanese team, scored 19 points, marking himself as one of the key players for the national team.

Lebanon’s next match in these qualifiers will be against Angola, where the national team hopes for a victory to reignite its hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games.

This match will take place on Thursday, July 4 at 6:30 PM Beirut time.
