Three people, including a Hezbollah fighter, were killed and two others wounded in Israeli bombardments targeting the villages of Hula and Jebbine in southern Lebanon, hours after a seven-day truce (November 24-30) between Israel and Hamas came to an end.

The truce allowed the exchange of 110 Israeli and foreign hostages and 240 Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the embattled enclave.

Exchanges of artillery fire between Hezbollah and the Hebrew state resumed on Friday afternoon and intensified in the early evening. In Hula, Nassifa Mazraani and her son, Mohammad, a Hezbollah fighter whose death was announced in the evening by the pro-Iranian group, were killed by a shell that targeted their house.

In Jebbine, one person was killed and two others wounded by an Israeli raid that also targeted their home. Teams from the al-Rissala scouts worked to rescue the wounded, while Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew overhead.

On Friday, Israeli bombardment also targeted the outskirts of the villages of Kfar Kila, Deir Mimas, Mays al-Jabal, Hula, Odaisseh, Wadi Slouqa and Aita al-Shaab, as well as the village of Hamoul.

The Israeli army also announced that it “struck a terrorist cell operating near Zar’it in southern Lebanon.” It also reported that the Iron Dome intercepted “a suspicious object that infiltrated Israeli territory from Lebanon,” as well as missiles over Marjayoun. The Hebrew state reported firing from Lebanon on Margaliot, Rosh Hanikra and Kiryat Shmona.

The Israeli army also fired on shepherds from the so-called radar position on Mount Hermon and dropped phosphorus bombs on olive groves in Kfar Kila. It also carried out a sweep with medium-caliber automatic weapons in the al-Raheb perimeter, opposite the village of Aita al-Shaab.

Israeli reconnaissance aircraft also flew over towns and villages in Tyre and the border region.

On the Lebanese side, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted a group of Israeli soldiers in Jal al-Alam and Ramya, as well as the al-Marj position, the Israeli barracks in Ramim and a military position in Margaliot.

Commenting on the war in Gaza and the spillover into southern Lebanon, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, who is attending COP28 in Dubai, said that “any miscalculation could lead Lebanon into an escalation that will not be limited to the southern front.” Speaking on the al-Arabiya channel, she stressed that “the situation between Lebanon and Israel is more dangerous than it was in 2006.”
