The Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, strongly criticized international inaction on the Israel-Hamas war. Speaking at a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting, he described it as “shameful” and accused Israel of committing genocide.

Qatar’s Emir criticized what he labeled as “shameful” international inaction over the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza as he opened a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting in Doha on Tuesday.

“It is shameful for the international community to allow this heinous crime to continue for nearly two months, during which the systematic and deliberate killing of innocent civilians persists, including women and children,” Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said.

Al Jazeera reported that the Qatari emir stated that Israel committed genocide during a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. “This is a genocide committed by Israel,” he expressed.

Qatar played a key role as a mediator in negotiations that led to the release of numerous Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and humanitarian aid access during a seven-day truce that ended on Friday.

Both Hamas and Israel have blamed each other for the end of the humanitarian pause and the renewed violence in the territory.

The Qatari ruler mentioned that his country is “constantly working to renew” the truce, which he added was “not an alternative to a permanent ceasefire.”

He called for “an international investigation into the massacres committed by Israel” and condemned the targeting of civilians of all nationalities and religions.
