Lebanon triumphed over South Africa with a 3-1 victory in their Davis Cup World Group II encounter, held on the main court of the “Palm Hills Sports Club” on clay in Cairo, Egypt.

Lebanon will play their next match early next year against a country to be determined by an upcoming draw.

After leading 2-0 on Saturday, two matches took place on Sunday. In doubles, South Africans Philip Henning and Alec Beckley defeated Lebanon’s Benjamin Hassan and Hady Habib in two sets (7-6, 6-3), narrowing the score to 1-2.

In the second match of Sunday’s singles, Benjamin Hassan (world No. 195) overcame Philip Henning (world No. 360) in two sets (6-2, 6-3), securing a 3-1 win for Lebanon and earning another Davis Cup victory for the nation.

Following the victory, Oliver Faisal, president of the Lebanese Tennis Federation, praised the Lebanese team, led by coach Fadi Youssef, for their remarkable performance, applauding players Benjamin Hassan and Hady Habib for shining on the court, as well as Fadi Baidan, Hassan Ibrahim and Moustafa Al-Natour for their efforts. Faisal, present in Cairo, expressed his satisfaction with the promising future of Lebanese tennis on the international stage.
