Lebanon secured a 2-0 lead over South Africa on the first day of the second Davis Cup World Group. The competition is being held on Court 1 of the Palm Hills Sports Club in Cairo, Egypt, on a clay surface.

In the first match, Lebanon’s Benjamin Hassan (world No. 195) defeated South Africa’s Alec Beckley (world No. 641) in straight sets (6-4, 6-2), dominating the match.

In the second match, Lebanon’s Hady Habib (world No. 268) defeated South Africa’s Philip Henning (world No. 360) 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

Habib came back from 2-5 down in the decisive third set to snatch an important victory and end the first day with a 2-0 lead for Lebanon. The Cedars need one more win to secure the match in their favor.

-10:30 AM – Men’s doubles

-1 PM – Men’s singles: Benjamin Hassan-Philip Henning (South Africa)

-3 PM – Men’s singles: Hady Habib-Alec Beckley (South Africa)
