Lebanese shooter Ray Bassil, an Olympic trap shooter, clinched the top spot at the ISSF World Cup, surpassing Australian shooter Penny Smith with a score of 44-40, and Italian Erica Sessa, who finished third, in the women’s trap final.

The competition is taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from May 1st to 12th.

The ISSF World Cup was introduced by the International Shooting Sport Federation in 1986 to provide a consistent qualification system for shooting competitions at the Olympic Games.

This prestigious competition continues to feature Olympic shooting disciplines, hosting four events annually for each discipline. Since 1988, it has culminated in the World Cup Final, showcasing the top shooters in the world.

Ray Bassil, who is preparing for the Paris Olympics, has once again confirmed her high level and readiness for the Olympic Games.

Ray Bassil represents Lebanon’s best chance of winning an Olympic medal since 1980, when Hassan Bechara shone in Greco-Roman wrestling. Her exceptional talent and high level of performance make her an undeniable hope for the Olympics.
