Following a precarious calm on Tuesday morning in southern Lebanon, a hairdresser under contract with UNIFIL’s Spanish battalion was injured by an Israeli sniper while on his way to work. He was immediately transported to Marjayoun Governmental Hospital for treatment.

He was standing in the spot where he usually waits for a patrol from the Spanish battalion to take him to his post at the UNIFIL base, opposite the Metula settlement.

Earlier, Israeli shelling targeted the outskirts of the towns of Aita al-Shaab and Markaba, as well as Bir Kallab in the Iqlim al-Tuffah highlands. Additionally, Israeli warplanes flew over the villages of the Tyre district and the coastal area.

At dawn, the Israeli Army fired heavy machine guns towards Ras al-Naqoura and Labbouneh, while during the night, the town of Khiam was bombarded.

In a related development, the UN revealed that the number of displaced people from the South has now reached “111,940, with 94% coming from the districts of Bint Jbeil, Marjayoun, and Tyre,” according to an updated report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
