Heavy fighting continues on Monday morning on the Lebanese southern border as cross border exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah are not letting up.
An Israeli raid on Hula early on Monday morning led to the death of two people.
The Israeli army opened fire with heavy machine guns at the forests adjacent to the Blue Line on the outskirts of the towns of Naqoura, Jabal al-Labbouneh, Hanin and Jabal al-Alam.
Moreover, the Israeli army announced in the early hours of Monday morning that their aircraft had attacked military buildings belonging to Hezbollah in Aita al-Shaab and Bayt Lif.
For its part, Hezbollah claimed attacks on troops and military positions in northern Israel, including a drone strike on a base and an assault on soldiers allegedly “infiltrating” near the Lebanese border.
Hezbollah also said it launched a “simultaneous air attack” with “explosive-laden drones” on two Israeli military positions – barracks near the border and a base near the coastal town of Acre, around 16 kilometers from the border. This is the first time since the beginning of the war, on October 8, that the pro-Iranian group hit this particular base.
It said it came “in response” to an Israeli “attack and assassination” in south Lebanon’s Kadmous area, near Tyre. A member of the group was killed in an Israeli strike in the area on Saturday.
Israeli media indicated that sirens were sounded in Zarit and Chtoula in the Upper Galilee and in the district areas of the cities of Acre and Nahariya after a drone launched from southern Lebanon exploded towards the settlement of Yaara. Israeli media reported injuries after a building was targeted in the Yaara settlement near the Lebanese border.
For its part, Yedioth Ahronoth announced that three drones and 10 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards the Western Galilee.
Sunday Night
Reconnaissance aircraft and drones intensified their flights throughout Sunday night and until Monday morning over the villages of the western and central sectors, up to the Litani River.
Israel also fired flares over the villages of the Tyre district and the sea coast.
Hezbollah announced that it had targeted Israeli soldiers with rockets and artillery shells after midnight on Sunday near Hadab Aita.
Hezbollah also claimed to have targeted the Zarit barracks with rocket weapons and artillery shells, which led to partial destruction and fires, as well as Hanin and the Al-Raheb site.
