Regarding the expected Israeli strike on Lebanon, the United States State Department stated that “Israel striking Beirut is a hypothesis and we will not comment on that now,” claiming that the rocket that fell on Majdal Shams was launched from an area controlled by Hezbollah.
The US State Department announced that it is holding talks to ensure the return of residents on both sides of the Israeli and Lebanese borders, noting that Gaza negotiations are in full swing and that efforts are ongoing.
The State Department pointed also out that the Golan Heights is an important area for Israel’s security, and that as long as Iranian groups are in Syria, the Golan Heights must remain secure under Israeli control.
