The ambassadors of the five-nation group, known as the Quintet, held a meeting on Thursday at the Qatari embassy during which they reviewed the latest developments in Lebanon, notably the situation in the south and the protracted presidential crisis.

In a press release issued at the end of the encounter, the envoys of France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and the US, stressed their unyielding support for holding the presidential election as quickly as possible and commended the National Moderation Bloc’s initiative.

According to MTV, the quintet’s members expressed support to any movement aimed at resolving the presidential crisis, especially the “Moderation” initiative.

They also agreed on future steps to take in order to enhance their mission in helping Lebanon overcome its many crises.
