Parliament Speaker Nabih Berry said on Wednesday, May 24, that “contrary to the misinformation that some are spreading, parliament’s doors remain open for all legislative and presidential election purposes”, and called on all Lebanese political parties to agree on a presidential candidate.

In a statement on the occasion of Liberation Day, Berry extended his congratulations to the Lebanese people and urged them to preserve what has been accomplished.

“I salute first and foremost the godfather and founder of the resistance Imam Musa Sadr and all the martyrs and fighters who selflessly sacrificed everything for the sake of freedom, as well as all the Lebanese,” Berri said.

Lastly, he expressed gratitude to “the Arab and friendly countries that have provided long-standing support to Lebanon, namely Syria, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria.”
