The Electricité du Liban (EDL) employees’ union officially announced on Monday the suspension of the strike, the resumption of activities, and the commitment of workers and employees to respect the institution’s official working hours starting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13.

The Ministry of Finance has agreed, following discussions and meetings, to transfer the necessary credits for the approval of decree 13020, according to a press release from the public electricity supplier.

Of note, EDL employees have been on a warning strike since Wednesday, August 7, demanding that the Caretaker Minister of Finance, Youssef Khalil, implement decree 13020 relating to their wage demands, notably the granting of preferential rates and financial support in fresh dollars to the institution’s civil servants and workers.
