Stars of the acclaimed television sitcom Friends paid tribute to their late co-star Matthew Perry. Known for his role as Chandler Bing, Matthew Perry passed away last month at the age of 54 after a prolonged battle with addiction and related health issues.

Jennifer Aniston, who portrayed Rachel in the series, expressed her deep sorrow on Instagram, stating, “Oh boy this one has cut deep.” She reflected on the bond shared among the cast, “He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the six of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.” Her post included a screenshot of a text message from Perry that read, “Making you laugh made my day,” to which Aniston remarked, “It says it all.”

David Schwimmer, who played Ross, shared a cherished photo of himself with Perry, noting how it now evokes both smiles and grief. He expressed gratitude for a decade of creativity and laughter with Perry.

Perry was discovered unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence and could not be revived by first responders. The cause of his death remains unknown; an initial post-mortem examination was inconclusive, and toxicology test results are pending.

Perry’s Friends co-stars — Aniston, Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow — released a joint statement mourning his loss. They also reportedly attended his private funeral in Los Angeles earlier this month. Cox and LeBlanc shared their personal tributes on Instagram on Tuesday, November 14. Cox reminisced about a beloved moment from the show, sharing, “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here’s one of my favorites.” She detailed a pivotal scene from “The One with Ross’s Wedding,” where Perry suggested a humorous line, highlighting his comedic talent and kindness.

LeBlanc penned a heartfelt farewell, writing, “Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother, you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

Perry’s sudden demise shocked both Hollywood and Friends enthusiasts. He had been candid about his struggles with addiction and health issues over the years. According to TMZ, no illicit drugs were found at Perry’s home, though various medications, including antidepressants and anxiety medication, were present.
